Is there something you’re thinking about doing but are afraid to? Maybe you want to ask somebody out, or start oil painting, or take flying lessons, or just do something a little crazy? Well here’s some advice: just go for it. But wait…. shouldn’t you think things through? Shouldn’t you calculate the risk? Nope. Instead, here are 4 reasons you should just go for it.
1. To be uncomfortable
Your comfort zone is your prison. All of the best things in life come when you step outside of it. Once you realize that, it’s easy to see your fear for what it is: a chain that’s holding you back from the life you want.
Instead, embrace that discomfort that comes from being bold and putting yourself out there. Once you’re past that, you feel your magic moment, which is the feeling that comes after knowing you overcame fear and succeeded.
2. Life is so short
We have limited time to do what we want and get what we want out of life. Don’t think like a child who has all the time in the world ahead of him or herself. Think like someone who wants tomorrow to be the day their dreams come true.
Don’t wait until next year, or for the time to be just perfect. The days are barreling by, so just go for it.
3. It’s easier than you think
The first step is always the hardest. If you can get past it, you’re 90% there. Want to write a book? Write the first sentence. Want to ask someone on a date? Start a conversation with them.
Of course, this is the difficult part, but remember, the rest of it is easy. Your whole life is waiting on the other side of that first step.
4. To prove them all wrong
Guess what? There are people out there who want to see you fail, who expect you to. They don’t want you to have something they can’t. They don’t want you to do better than them. Don’t let them win.
If the other reasons don’t convince you, than let this be the one. Show every person who said you can’t, you won’t, you shouldn’t, that they were wrong. They don’t decide who you are. You do.
